On behalf of our client, we are seeking a hands-on VP Finance to oversee the day-to-day accounting and financial operations of their German, Luxembourg and US management companies, and to grow into broader responsibility as the firm scales. The successful candidate will lead a small team, own the closing, and take a first real step into controlling and FP&A. Just as importantly, they want someone who is genuinely curious about AI and eager to use it.

• Oversee of day to day accounting operations for German, Luxembourg and U.S. management companies and related entities.
• Lead a small team of 3–4, set priorities, review work and develop the team.
• Run the quarterly close : internal financial reporting, reconciliations and variance analysis for senior leadership.
• Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, cash planning and capital planning for global operations.
• Prepare and present quarterly actual-versus-budget reviews to senior leadership.
• Work with internal and external auditors to deliver accurate, on-time annual audits for the German and Luxembourg management companies (regulated AIFMs).
• Perform regulatory and CSSF-related reporting for the Luxembourg entity.
• Identify and implement opportunities for automation and AI across the finance function.
• Own and improve finance systems and integrations (NetSuite, Tipalti, expense tooling) and act as the internal champion for AI-enabled workflows across the team.
• Partner with fund accounting, legal, HR and investment teams on operational and strategic initiatives.
• Continuously improve finance processes, controls, reporting and scalability.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related field; professional qualification a plus but not required.
• 7-10 years of experience in accounting or finance — audit, corporate/management company accounting, or a Big 4 to industry path. Venture capital, private equity or fund services experience is a plus.
• Working knowledge of German GAAP (HGB) and Luxembourg GAAP; comfortable owning the close for entities in both jurisdictions.
• First experience in controlling or FP&A and the ambition to grow this into a core part of the role.
• First leadership experience: you have managed, mentored or coordinated at least one or two people, or are clearly ready to.
• Real interest in AI and automation. Technical skills (Excel modelling or AI tooling) are welcome.
• Familiarity with accounting platform NetSuite.
• Fluent German and English.
• Strong communication, analytical and organizational skills; comfortable in a lean team where you both do the work and improve how it gets done.
